چکیده
Looking for new green and environmentally friendly bio sorbents metal removal from polluted wastewater, the present study investigates potential sorbent Cd(II) wastewater namely, mechanism uptake capacity of by brown algae, Fucus vesiculosus Irish Sea. This work takes a comprehensive approach involving combination qualitative quantitative information collected macro to atomistic scale, in direct non-destructive manner. Our results demonstrate that is adsorbed on algal surface based carboxylic alginate groups. Effective adsorption achieved at pH conditions between 5 7, which occurs rapidly (?2 h), with increasing concentration. Cd maximum (i.e., 1.203 mmol g?1 dried algae) first cycle show superior as opposed other species. Quantitatively has an (more than two folds) second cycle, after elution biomass sites functioning. Desorption regeneration effectively HCl (10 mM) EDTA (1 mM), but they can only be used cycles, before efficiency decreases. Microprecipitation high (>9) when using NaOH eluent. Results this shed light understanding binding mechanisms v., providing crucial further process optimization, pilot testing, scaling up implementation clean, biotechnology applied treatments.

Highly selective and rapid arsenic removal by metabolically engineered Escherichia coli cells expressing Fucus vesiculosus metallothionein.
An arsenic-chelating metallothionein (fMT) from the arsenic-tolerant marine alga Fucus vesiculosus was expressed in Escherichia coli, resulting in 30- and 26-fold-higher As(III) and As(V) binding, respectively. Coexpression of the As(III)-specific transporter GlpF with fMT further improved arsenic accumulation and offered high selectivity toward As. Resting E. coli cells coexpressing fMT and Gl...

Abstract Background and Objective: Prevention of medical laboratory errors is a major goal of quality control programs. Hemolyzed specimen is one of the common issues causing medical laboratory errors. Apart from the visual assessment, the measurement of serum hemoglobin concentration can be another method to evaluate the intensity of hemolysis. We aimed to assess hemolyzed serum s...
متن کاملDetermination of the Cd/S cluster stoichiometry in Fucus vesiculosus metallothionein.
The seaweed Fucus vesiculosus is unusual when compared with other algal species, in that it can survive in toxic-metal-contaminated aquatic environments. The metallothionein gene has been identified in F. vesiculosus by Kille and co-workers (Morris, C. A., Nicolaus, B., Sampson, V., Harwood, J. L., and Kille, P. (1999) Biochem. J. 338, 553), which suggests a possible protective mechanism agains...
متن کاملSeasonal Variations in Surface Metabolite Composition of Fucus vesiculosus and Fucus serratus from the Baltic Sea
Perennial macroalgae within the genus Fucus are known to exude metabolites through their outer thallus surface. Some of these metabolites have pro- and/or antifouling properties. Seasonal fluctuations of natural fouling pressure and chemical fouling control strength against micro- and macrofoulers have previously been observed in Fucus, suggesting that control strength varies with threat. To da...
متن کاملFrequent Clonality in Fucoids (fucus Radicans and Fucus Vesiculosus; Fucales, Phaeophyceae) in the Baltic Sea(1).
Asexual reproduction by cloning may affect the genetic structure of populations, their potential to evolve, and, among foundation species, contributions to ecosystem functions. Macroalgae of the genus Fucus are known to produce attached plants only by sexual recruitment. Recently, however, clones of attached plants recruited by asexual reproduction were observed in a few populations of Fucus ra...
